@ScrunchUp if think #education is the way to go, but also try to create as many sites/content for friends/charity to get a portfolio going.
@ScrunchUp For me, it's #education although I feel it differs depending upon the individual.
@ScrunchUp Since I'm doing a PhD I'd better vote for #education (at least, I enjoyed it enough to come back for more!)
@scrunchup – #education
@scrunchup #education its not for everyone but the university experience is worth it IMO. My degree subject was the least of what i learned
@ScrunchUp #education - for a good grounding, gives you a good backup plan and educate you on discipline towards work/deadlines.
@ScrunchUp #education - but get a uni course with a placement year. It gives you the best of both worlds then and is what I'm doing
@ScrunchUp #education - But most UK unis are so out of touch with the industry its tough to find the right / good one.
@ScrunchUp My vote is for #education If one can - can be no better substitute
@ScrunchUp #education - as long as it is the right course. They are few and far between, but they are out there.

@ScrunchUp #employment --but make sure you read all the time, and not just books with pictures.
@ScrunchUp #employment Even though I had some education (mostly not related to my current job), most of things you get being employed.
@scrunchup #employment Universities are well behind the times—I declined a place at Newcastle and they now use my site to teach students!
@ScrunchUp #employment still get educated, but it's learning how to learn, not learning a trade. Make sure you also work on your own stuff.
@scrunchup #employment - vs 2007-09 education, it seems much better to have real experience. As long as you have space to learn at work.
@scrunchup #employment The web changes too quickly for classes to keep up. A solid base education is important though. English, etc.
@scrunchup #employment all day long. You get to keep up to date with the latest technologies, in Uni I think you miss out on that big time
@scrunchup there's no subsitute to real-world experience. #employment can teach more than any class out there.
@Scrunchup I went for #employment . I'm working for uks biggest bank and have no debt (exc mortgage!)
@scrunchup #employment - I went down the education route but dropped out, and leaving uni was the best decision.

Can’t believe education won! I strongly believe it’s not the way to go. Then again, I’m assuming the question means;
Want to be a web designer? Education or employment…
